Strathclyde Country Park (Lanarkshire)
Strathclyde Park is located on the north side of the M74 at Hamilton and is a good area for gulls & waders, the gull roost on Strathclyde Loch regularly holds Iceland and Glaucous Gull. Yellow-legged Gulls are also starting to be reported more regularly as well as occaisional Mediterranean Gulls, there have been Ring-billed Gulls at the loch with an adult and first winter bird being present at the same time in December 2001.
The NW corner of the loch is good for Golden Plover and Lapwing which roost within the fenced off starting tower area. This area has turned up other rarer birds like the Grey Phalarope in October/November 2003. The loch also holds a winter Goosander flock which can reach treble figures in some years.
The River Clyde runs through the park and is good for Goldeneye and the occaisional Smew in winter.
